1940: Vern Slaugh, who makes his only Nationwide start at age 63, is born on this day. Slaugh, of Zeeland, Mich., finished 30th in the Cabela's 250 in August 2003 at Michigan International Speedway. He completed 108 of the 110 laps. The race, won by Kevin Harvick, was shortened 15 laps because of rain.
