2009: Joe Caspolich, who started eight Cup races from 1957 to 1961, died on this day at the age of 79. Caspolich started four races at Daytona, three at Darlington and one at Charlotte. His best finish was 12th in the 1963 Rebel 300 at Darlington. He finished six laps behind winner Joe Weatherly. Richard Petty was second, the only other car on the lead lap.
