1916: Charles Weidler, who made seven Cup starts in the early 1950s, is born on this day. Weidler, who died at age 83, made five starts in 1952 and two in 1953. His best finish was 17th in a 300-lap race on the half-mile dirt track of Dayton (Ohio) Speedway in 1952. In his second start, Weidler finished 38th in a field of 66 cars in the third running of the Southern 500 at Darlington.
