1962: Rex White wins a 99-mile race at Orange Speedway in Hillsborough, N.C., for his second win of the 1962 season. White, the 1960 Cup champion, finishes the season with a personal-best eight Cup wins and places fifth in the points standings. On this day he leads the final five laps on the nine-tenths of a dirt track mile and beats Richard Petty by two car lengths. Jim Paschal finishes third.
