Lap 500 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Kyle Busch wins the Jeff Byrd 500 for his fifth consecutive win at Bristol and his second consecutive weekend sweep at the track. Carl Edwards finishes second and Jimmie Johnson is third.

Lap 499 -- WHITE FLAG: Kyle Busch takes the white flag.

Lap 497 -- This is Kyle Busch's race to lose.

Lap 493 -- Kyle Busch has hit lap traffic, but there is a nice cushion between him , Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 490 -- With 10 to go, Kyle Busch has a half-second lead.

Lap 485 -- Kyle Busch starting to pull away as Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson race for second.

Lap 482 -- Joey Logano has a broken wheel and hits the wall but is able to make it to pit road and the race stays green.

Lap 480 -- Things have settled down a bit up front with Kyle Busch out front.

Lap 475 -- Kyle Busch back out front.

Lap 474 -- Carl Edwards beats Kyle Busch to the line to lead.

Lap 473 -- Carl Edwards remains on Kyle Busch's bumper for the lead. Jimmie Johnson behind the two by just a fraction of a second.

Lap 468 -- Three-way battle for the lead between Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 464 -- Carl Edwards doesn't let Kyle Busch run away with the restart and the two are locked together.

Lap 463 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch brings the field to the green followed by Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth.

Lap 457 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 10: Clint Bowyer's No. 33 is smoking. Brad Keselowski gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 456 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch brings the field to the green followed by Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson and Paul Menard.

Lap 453 -- Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin and Martin Truex Jr. on pit road.

Lap 450 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 9: Travis Kvapil spins in Turn 4 and brings out the caution. David Ragan gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 444 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch gets the race back under way.

Lap 441 -- Kevin Harvick on pit road to repair the damage. He was running third at the time of the crash. Mark Martin has a tire going down and will have to pit. Clint Bowyer also on pit road with a lot of damage.

Lap 436 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 8: Kevin Harvick spins after Kasey Kahne gets loose and Harvick gets bumped by Mark Martin but Harvick is able to save it. Behind Harvick, Trevor Bayne, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer and Juan Montoya all wreck with heavy damage.

Lap 435 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch brings the field to the green followed by Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick.

Lap 433 -- There are five wave-around cars but all of them are multiple laps down. Dale Earnhardt Jr. too fast entering pit road and will start at the tail end.

Lap 430 -- Kyle Busch won the race off pit road and is back out front. Jimmie Johnson will restart fourth after a slow trip down pit road. Kurt Busch lost eight spots on pit road and will restart 14th.

Lap 429 -- The lead lap cars hit pit road for what could be the final time. Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson with four tires and no adjustments. Mark Martin with an air pressure adjustment. Kyle Busch with four tires and an air pressure adjustment.

Lap 427 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 7: David Gilliland spins on the frontstretch bringing out the caution. Tony Stewart gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 425 -- The top five with 75 to go: Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle.

Lap 418 -- Jimmie Johnson has caught Tony Stewart and is close to putting the No. 14 a lap down.

Lap 413 -- Joey Logano having a great day at Bristol as he runs 14th.

Lap 406 -- Greg Biffle passes Kurt Busch for fifth.

Lap 400 -- There are 100 laps to go. Of the first 400 laps, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch have led 219 of them.

Lap 391 -- Tony Stewart has slipped on this run, now down to 17th, close to going a lap down.

Lap 384 -- Matt Kenseth has quietly run in the top 15 most of the day, currently 14th.

Lap 381 -- Kevin Harvick passes Kurt Busch for third. Carl Edwards is right on Busch's bumper for fourth.

Lap 377 -- Dennis Setzer takes the No. 92 to the garage. He is only the sixth driver behind the wall.

Lap 371 -- Greg Biffle gets around Mark Martin for seventh.

Lap 366 -- Jimmie Johnson has opened up a 1.4-second lead on Kyle Busch. Kurt Busch is third followed by Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards.

Lap 360 -- Mark Martin running seventh, the second-highest he has been all day.

Lap 354 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. went high and lost four spots to 11th.

Lap 351 -- Jimmie Johnson gets a great start and leads. Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch are side-by-side for second.

Lap 350 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson brings the field to the green followed by Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne.

Lap 348 -- The leaders should have to make one more stop before the race concludes.

Lap 347 -- All the lead lap cars are on pit road. Kevin Harvick will take four tires. Jimmie Johnson with four tires and a chassis adjustment. Mark Martin with four tires and a small adjustment. Kyle Busch with four tires and no adjustments.

Lap 344 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 6: Debris in Turn 2 brings out the caution. Martin Truex Jr. gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 341 -- Jimmie Johnson is able to get around Kyle Busch for the lead after Marcos Ambrose put up a fight to stay on the lead lap.

Lap 337 -- The top 10 are spread out by 10 seconds and there isn't a lot of position racing up front right now.

Lap 331 -- Marcos Ambrose goes a lap down leaving 16 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 327 -- Martin Truex Jr. goes a lap down.

Lap 323 -- David Ragan goes a lap down.

Lap 319 -- As Kyle Busch deals with lap traffic, Jimmie Johnson has closed the gap and has caught Busch's bumper.

Lap 311 -- Clint Bowyer goes a lap down. Next up is Marcos Ambrose in 19th.

Lap 304 -- Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson continue to show they are the two to beat today at Bristol. They have opened up a lead of more than two seconds on the field.

Lap 298 -- Martin Truex Jr. is not happy with the handling of his car. After leading the race, he now runs 13th.

Lap 294 -- Twenty cars remain on the lead lap. Clint Bowyer is in 20th; Regan Smith is in 21st, one lap down.

Lap 285 -- Mark Martin into the top 10 as he runs ninth.

Lap 281 -- Kyle Busch out front by 0.6 seconds.

Lap 273 -- Trevor Bayne gets up into the wall in Turn 2 but he is able to continue and the race stays green.

Lap 270 -- Kyle Busch had been working Jimmie Johnson's bumper since the restart and finally got the lead.

Lap 268 -- Juan Montoya had a loose wheel and he went from 10th to 24th, two laps down.

Lap 265 -- Juan Montoya is on pit road to fix his wheel issue and will go at least a lap down.

Lap 262 -- Juan Montoya is stuck on the outside trying to get to pit road as he either has a loose wheel or a flat tire.

Lap 260 -- After dealing with handling early, Jeff Gordon seems to have his car figured out as he runs 11th.

Lap 256 -- Despite the spin, Bobby Labonte didn't lose a position and continues in ninth.

Lap 253 -- Jimmie Johnson gets a great start and maintains the lead.

Lap 252 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson brings the field to the green followed by Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne and Carl Edwards.

Lap 248 -- All the lead lap cars hit pit road for tires, fuel and adjustments.

Lap 246 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 5: Bobby Labonte spins in Turn 4 bringing out the caution. Clint Bowyer gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 242 -- Lap traffic has allowed Kyle Busch to trim more than a second off of Jimmie Johnson's lead.

Lap 239 -- Not a good day for Denny Hamlin as he is 31st, three laps down.

Lap 231 -- Jimmie Johnson has opened up a 2.3-second lead on Kyle Busch.

Lap 225 -- Trevor Bayne and Clint Bowyer are on the verge of going a lap down.

Lap 221 -- Things have "calmed" on the track as we approach a green-flag run of 100 laps.

Lap 216 -- Regan Smith is about to go a lap down. He runs 23rd.

Lap 205 -- Bobby Labonte has been as low as 29th but has quietly worked his way up to 11th.

Lap 202 -- Jimmie Johnson has opened-up a 0.8-second lead on Kyle Busch.

Lap 194 -- Kyle Busch up to second and around Kevin Harvick thanks to lap traffic.

Lap 191 -- Lap traffic allows Jimmie Johnson to get around Kevin Harvick for the lead.

Lap 189 -- Kevin Harvick is closing in on the tail end of the field. Dave Blaney will be the next to go a lap down.

Lap 181 -- Greg Biffle says his car is "plowing like a dump truck." After starting second, Biffle now runs 16th.

Lap 176 -- Jimmie Johnson passes Kurt Busch for second.

Lap 172 -- Juan Montoya started 36th and is up to 10th.

Lap 169 -- Martin Truex Jr. now down to sixth as Kyle Busch gets around him.

Lap 164 -- Kurt Busch passes Martin Truex Jr. for second. Carl Edwards now sixth.

Lap 154 -- Kevin Harvick goes to the inside and passes Martin Truex Jr. for the lead.

Lap 151 -- Casey Mears slows on the track but is able to get to pit road.

Lap 148 -- Kurt Busch up to third for the first time today. Jimmie Johnson currently fourth.

Lap 145 -- Martin Truex Jr. holds the lead. Kevin Harvick jumps up to second.

Lap 144 -- GREEN FLAG: Martin Truex Jr. brings the field to the green followed by Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman.

Lap 141 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon on pit road for adjustments. A.J. Allmendinger and David Reutimann also pit.

Lap 139 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Brad Keselowski spins and hits the wall in Turn 4. Dave Blaney gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 136 -- GREEN FLAG: Martin Truex Jr. brings the field to the green followed by Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Kasey Kahne.

Lap 135 -- David Gilliland forced to go the rear for pitting too soon. He came in right after the caution came out because he ran out of fuel.

Lap 132 -- Andy Lally and David Gilliland are the wave-around cars.

Lap 131 -- The lead lap cars are on pit road. Kevin Harvick takes four tires and fuel. Jimmie Johnson with a chassis adjustment. Ryan Newman with four tires and no adjustments. Martin Truex Jr. with four tires and a small adjustment.

Lap 128 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Robby Gordon has a tire go down and he hits the wall. Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 126 -- Kurt Busch is in the top 10 as he runs ninth.

Lap 121 -- The most intense racing on the track right now is 18th on back.

Lap 115 -- Jeff Gordon still upset about the handling of his car as he runs 16th.

Lap 111 -- Twenty-seven cars are on the lead lap. Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray and Bill Elliott among those a lap down.

Lap 107 -- Martin Truex Jr. has opened up a 0.5-second lead on Kyle Busch.

Lap 104 -- After starting in the top five, Regan Smith is down to 20th.

Lap 100 -- Kevin Harvick passes Ryan Newman for fourth. J.J. Yeley takes the No. 46 to the garage.

Lap 97 -- Mark Martin quietly running a strong race in 14th. David Ragan also in the top 15 in 15th.

Lap 95 -- David Gilliland still running strong despite not stopping on the competition caution. He runs sixth.

Lap 92 -- Martin Truex Jr. grabs the lead from Kyle Busch.

Lap 89 -- Martin Truex Jr. passes Ryan Newman for second. Jimmie Johnson is close to getting around Newman for third.

Lap 87 -- Paul Menard back in the top 10 as he runs ninth. Kasey Kahne just ahead of him in eighth.

Lap 84 -- Kyle Busch gets around Ryan Newman and leads.

Lap 81 -- Brian Vickers is back on the track scored 51 laps down.

Lap 79 -- Kyle Busch has closed the gap on leader Ryan Newman.

Lap 76 -- Jeff Burton had a loose wheel, had to pit under green and is now two laps down.

Lap 74 -- David Reutimann is three laps down but it appears his issues of running slow have been fixed.

Lap 70 -- Paul Menard down to 10th after all the pit stops. Greg Biffle currently 13th.

Lap 67 -- Tony Stewart's two-tire stop hasn't worked out as he has gone from third to ninth.

Lap 63 -- Kevin Harvick has found his way up to sixth. Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. pass David Gilliland for second and third.

Lap 60 -- Kyle Busch up to third on the restart, Martin Truex Jr. jumps to fourth.

Lap 58 -- Ryan Newman gets around David Gilliland and leads for the first time today.

Lap 56 -- GREEN FLAG: David Gilliland brings the field to the green followed by Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman and Carl Edwards.

Lap 54 -- David Gilliland didn't pit and is out front. Robby Gordon also stayed on the track. Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman were the first two cars off pit road after taking two tires.

Lap 53 -- The lead-lap cars hit pit road. Paul Menard with four tires and no adjustments. Jimmie Johnson takes four tires and no adjustments. Regan Smith with four tires and a wedge adjustment. Kyle Busch takes four tires and a small adjustment.

Lap 50 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Competition caution is out. Denny Hamlin gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 48 -- Kyle Busch has caught Jimmie Johnson and there is a three-way battle for the lead.

Lap 43 -- Jimmie Johnson is all over the rear of Paul Menard but Menard is able to hold him off and remain the leader.

Lap 40 -- Kyle Busch passes Carl Edwards for third. David Reutimann is slow on the track after the Lap 28 incident.

Lap 37 -- Michael McDowell takes his No. 66 to the garage.

Lap 36 -- Paul Menard able to keep Jimmie Johnson behind him and remain in the lead.

Lap 35 -- GREEN FLAG: Paul Menard brings the field to the green followed by Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truex Jr., Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle.

Lap 33 -- Jamie McMurray and Denny Hamlin back on pit road to repair damage.

Lap 32 -- Joe Nemechek is penalized a lap for taking on fuel before the competition caution. Brad Keselowski too fast on pit road.

Lap 30 -- Pit road is open but just a few take advantage.

Lap 28 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: Jeff Burton slows collecting Brad Keselowski, David Reutimann, Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, and A.J. Allmendinger. Bill Elliott gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 27 -- Joe Nemechek goes a lap down.

Lap 25 -- Jimmie Johnson gets around Carl Edwards for second.

Lap 24 -- Dennis Setzer and Andy Lally are a lap down.

Lap 21 -- Jeff Gordon says his car is very loose. He is running 10th after starting seventh.

Lap 19 -- Paul Menard gets around Carl Edwards for the lead.

Lap 17 -- Paul Menard has closed the gap on leader Carl Edwards.

Lap 15 -- Kasey Kahne up to seventh after starting 10th.

Lap 13 -- Kyle Busch up to sixth after starting 12th.

Lap 11 -- Marcos Ambrose and Kurt Busch side-by-side for 13th.

Lap 6 -- Carl Edwards has already opened-up a three-second lead on fourth-place Greg Biffle.

Lap 4 -- Jimmie Johnson gets around Greg Biffle for third. Regan Smith down to sixth.

Lap 3 -- Paul Menard up to second as Greg Biffle falls to third.

Lap 1 -- Carl Edwards gets out front and leads the first lap.

1:18 p.m. ET -- GREEN FLAG: Carl Edwards brings the field to the green and the Jeff Byrd 500 is under way.

1:14 p.m. ET -- The cars are rolling off pit road for three warm-up laps.

1:12 p.m. ET -- Dave Blaney will head to the rear due to an engine change. Casey Mears also going to the rear for a transmission change.

1:11 p.m. ET -- There will be a competition caution at Lap 50 to inspect the new tire.

1:09 p.m. ET -- Claudia Byrd, Christian Byrd and Belton Caldwell give the command, "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

1:02 p.m. ET -- Billy Ray Cyrus sings the national anthem.

1:01 p.m. ET -- Knoxville native and Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne leads the Pledge of Allegiance.

1 p.m. ET -- Rev. Mike Rife from Vansant Church of Christ in Vansant, Va., delivers the Invocation.

12:30 p.m. ET -- FOX's pre-race show has started.

11:50 a.m. ET -- It's cloudy and comfortable and Bristol Motor Speedway. It's currently 60 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures are expected to get to the mid-60s and there is a 30 percent chance of rain, but the rain isn't expected until the evening. Carl Edwards will start on the pole for the second time at Bristol. The last time he was P1, he won. Green for the Jeff Byrd 500 drops at 1:13 p.m. ET.
