Guy tabbed to serve as Kvapil's crew chief

Veteran crew chief Jay Guy has been tabbed to handle pit box duties for Travis Kvapil's No. 38 Ford, beginning this weekend at Auto Club Speedway.

Guy replaces interim crew chief Derrick Finley, the team's engineer and competition director, who was a one-week fill-in after the team parted ways with Bill Henderson.

Guy, a native of Lancaster, Pa., has been involved with racing for almost 30 years. He began his career with Dave Marcis. After three years at Furniture Row Racing, Guy was Brad Keselowski's crew chief in 2010. He started the 2011 season as crew chief for Andy Lally's No. 71 Chevrolet.

"It's good to have Jay Guy on board with us," Kvapil said. "He's got a ton of experience with Penske and some other teams, which I know will help us. And he's going to get the chance to jump right in this weekend.

"The car was actually set up and prepared before he even joined us, so there's going to be a little adjustment period there. But he's a veteran guy and I think he's going to be a great asset to our team. I'm eager to work with him."
