Lap 500 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Kevin Harvick wins his second Cup event in a row as he takes the checkered flag at Martinsville. This is Harvick's first win at Martinsville. Dale Earnhardt Jr. edges Kyle Busch at the line for second.

Lap 499 -- WHITE FLAG: Kevin Harvick takes the white flag and Dale Earnhardt Jr. looks to be too far behind.

Lap 496 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets loose and Kevin Harvick gets around him for the lead.

Lap 495 -- Kevin Harvick is on the bumper of the No. 88.

Lap 492 -- Lap traffic shouldn't be an issue the rest of the way. It's a two-man battle between Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick.

Lap 490 -- Ten to go and Dale Earnhardt Jr. leads by 0.5 seconds

Lap 487 -- Kevin Harvick completes the pass on Kyle Busch and is coming for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 484 -- Kevin Harvick on the bumper of Kyle Busch for second.

Lap 480 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. bumps Kyle Busch in Turn 2 and takes the lead. It's been 98 races since Earnhardt has visited Victory Lane.

Lap 476 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the bumper of Kyle Busch for the lead. Juan Montoya running third followed by Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth.

Lap 473 -- Jimmie Johnson 11th and Denny Hamlin 13th. Hamlin one of the cars to take the wave around.

Lap 471 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch brings the field to the green followed by Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth and Juan Montoya.

Lap 468 -- Jimmie Johnson too fast entering pit road and will start at the tail end of the field. He came out of the pits in second.

Lap 467 -- The leaders hit pit road. Kyle Busch with a track bar adjustment. Jimmie Johnson with four tires and a chassis adjustment. Kevin Harvick with four tires and no adjustments.

Lap 465 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 11: Regan Smith spins and hits the wall bringing out the caution. Jeff Gordon was on pit road but he drove through and will not be penalized. No free pass will be given as Smith was the first car a lap down.

Lap 464 -- A.J. Allmendinger on pit road.

Lap 462 -- Kurt Busch on pit road along with some lap down cars.

Lap 458 -- Denny Hamlin on pit road for four tires, a wedge and track bar adjustment.

Lap 456 -- Kyle Busch puts Carl Edwards a lap down. Kevin Harvick gets around Jeff Gordon for third.

Lap 453 -- Jimmie Johnson has cut Kyle Busch's lead to 1.4 seconds.

Lap 445 -- If this race stays green, the leaders should have to make a pit stop for fuel.

Lap 443 -- Matt Kenseth closing the race well as he is up to eighth after being a lap down for most of the day. Kenseth and his crew have figured out he will be eight to 10 laps short on fuel.

Lap 438 -- Kevin Harvick passes Denny Hamlin for fourth on the outside.

Lap 434 -- Jimmie Johnson gets around Jeff Gordon for second.

Lap 432 -- A solid run for Regan Smith who is on the lead lap in 16th.

Lap 430 -- Mark Martin has used two wave-arounds to get back on the lead lap and he is running 11th.

Lap 428 -- Kyle Busch has opened up a 2.5-second lead on the field.

Lap 425 -- Of the top-five drivers, Kevin Harvick is the only one who might not have to make a stop the rest of the day.

Lap 421 -- Jimmie Johnson has caught Jeff Gordon and is challenging for second.

Lap 417 -- Kevin Harvick continues to come on strong at the finish. He is currently fifth.

Lap 411 -- Kyle Busch has yet to win at Martinsville and has a 1.3-second lead with less than 90 laps to go.

Lap 405 -- Clint Bowyer down to 10th as he is having some handling problems.

Lap 401 -- Jimmie Johnson on the move as he passes Denny Hamlin for third.

Lap 400 -- With 100 to go, Kyle Busch is out front. There are 18 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 395 -- The top four of Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon , Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson have put two seconds between them and the rest of the field.

Lap 392 -- Kyle Busch drives around Jeff Gordon and leads.

Lap 388 -- Kevin Harvick rebounds and is running ninth. Jimmie Johnson passes Clint Bowyer for fourth.

Lap 386 -- Jeff Gordon continues to lead but Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin are not letting Gordon drive away.

Lap 381 -- Jeff Burton now four laps down after making repairs on pit road.

Lap 376 -- The top eight cars didn't pit. Jeff Burton rear-ended someone and he has major front-end damage.

Lap 375 -- GREEN FLAG: Jeff Gordon brings the field to the green followed by Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson.

Lap 374 -- Dave Blaney takes the No. 36 to the garage.

Lap 372 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Mark Martin and Kurt Busch among the cars to pit.

Lap 370 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 10: Ryan Newman spins after having his tire go down. David Ragan gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 369 -- Jimmie Johnson again with a great stop and he is back in the top five.

Lap 365 -- Jeff Gordon passes Kyle Busch for the lead in Turn 3.

Lap 362 -- Clint Bowyer and Greg Biffle are trying to make the outside work and it is the best it's been all day.

Lap 360 -- Casey Mears takes the No. 13 to the garage.

Lap 359 -- GREEN FLAG: Kyle Busch brings the field to the green.

Lap 357 -- There are 14 cars that are taking the wave-around.

Lap 356 -- Ryan Newman on pit road with his engine problems.

Lap 354 -- Jamie McMurray has to come back to pit road for having a loose lug nut. He is on pit road to get it tightened and will now start at the rear of the field. Trevor Bayne penalized a lap for bringing out the caution due to stopping on the track.

Lap 353 -- The leaders hit pit road. Kyle Busch with a small track bar adjustment. Denny Hamlin with four tires and an adjustment. Jeff Gordon with four tires and no changes. Jamie McMurray with four tires and no changes.

Lap 351 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 9: Trevor Bayne cuts a tire and can't get to pit road bringing out the caution. Matt Kenseth gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 346 -- Only 11 cars are on the lead lap following green-flag stops. Ryan Newman is in 11th, the last car on the lead lap. Matt Kenseth, Juan Montoya, Brian Vickers and Carl Edwards are among the cars one lap down.

Lap 342 -- The top five following green-flag stops: Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon and Jamie McMurray.

Lap 336 -- Kevin Harvick pits giving Kyle Busch the lead, completing green-flag stops. Busch has a four-second lead on second-place Denny Hamlin.

Lap 334 -- Kevin Harvick leads as Carl Edwards and Mark Martin pit. Edwards with four tires and a minor adjustment.

Lap 332 -- Carl Edwards leads as A.J. Allmendinger pits. Juan Montoya also on pit road.

Lap 330 -- Ryan Newman says his engine is ready to blow up. He' s going to race as long as he can.

Lap 327 -- Ryan Newman gives the lead to A.J. Allmendinger and pits. Jimmie Johnson, Brian Vickers and David Ragan also on pit road.

Lap 325 -- Jeff Gordon gives the lead to Ryan Newman and pits. Gordon with four tires and a wedge adjustment.

Lap 322 -- Brad Keselowski slams the wall in Turn 4 and is trying to get to pit road. Clint Bowyer on pit road for four tires.

Lap 321 -- Kyle Busch gives the lead to Jeff Gordon and pits. Busch with four tires. Jamie McMurray also on pit road. McMurray with four tires and a small adjustment.

Lap 319 -- Mark Martin bumps Jeff Burton out of 17th. Joey Logano follows Martin for 18th.

Lap 315 -- Denny Hamlin gives up the lead to Kyle Busch to pit. Hamlin with four tires and a track bar adjustment.

Lap 311 -- Matt Kenseth up to 14th after being a lap down. Brian Vickers has had an interesting day but he remains in the top 15 in 15th.

Lap 308 -- A.J. Allmendinger passes David Reutimann for seventh. Denny Hamlin puts Tony Stewart two laps down.

Lap 305 -- Jimmie Johnson running 11th and asking his spotter to see what line Jeff Gordon is running since Gordon is so fast.

Lap 297 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. has dropped like a rock as he is down to ninth. Michael McDowell has slowed on the track with a flat tire and Casey Mears hit the wall in Turn 1 after having a tire go flat. McDowell and Mears both make it to pit road. Casey Mears has some damage to the rear of his No. 13.

Lap 292 -- Jeff Gordon on the move as he passes Clint Bowyer for third.

Lap 289 -- Jeff Gordon up to fourth; A.J. Allmendinger has worked his way up to ninth.

Lap 285 -- Kyle Busch has closed the gap on leader Denny Hamlin.

Lap 281 -- Clint Bowyer dealing with a tight race car and he keeps drifting up the track in the corners. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is challenging for third.

Lap 272 -- Bobby Labonte delivers a payback bump to Brian Vickers but in the process Jeff Burton has to check up and he has some front-end damage after hitting Vickers.

Lap 270 -- David Reutimann just hanging around the top 10 all day and currently sixth.

Lap 266 -- Jeff Gordon complaining of a very loose race car. Jimmie Johnson having some overheating issues.

Lap 261 -- Jeff Gordon still on the outside and down to eighth.

Lap 260 -- Denny Hamlin back out front. Paul Menard smoking heavily and is black-flagged.

Lap 257 -- Clint Bowyer passes Jeff Gordon on the inside. Gordon now out of line and falling back quickly. Gordon tried to get in front of teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. but Junior bumped Gordon out of the way.

Lap 256 -- Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer are side-by-side for the lead.

Lap 254 -- Tony Stewart goes a lap down after the penalty.

Lap 250 -- Tony Stewart penalized for changing lanes before the start/finish line. He will serve a pass-through penalty. Jeff Gordon gets around Clint Bowyer for the lead.

Lap 249 -- Clint Bowyer holds on to the lead. Juan Montoya stuck on the outside and falls to seventh.

Lap 247 -- GREEN FLAG: Clint Bowyer brings the field to the green followed by Juan Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 240 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 8: Brad Keselowski bumps Paul Menard causing him to spin and collect Michael McDowell and Casey Mears in the corner bringing out the caution. All three appear to have mimimal damage. Ken Schrader gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 239 -- GREEN FLAG: Clint Bowyer brings the field to the green followed by Juan Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 232 -- Ken Schrader gets the free pass and is now one lap down.

Lap 231 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 7: Regan Smith checks up and causes Kurt Busch to drive to the inside, hit the curb and slam Bobby Labonte. Joey Logano, Robby Gordon and Dave Blaney among the numerous cars to spin trying to avoid the wreck. Labonte has major damage. Kevin Harvick also has some damage after contact with Brian Vickers.

Lap 230 -- Clint Bowyer holds on to the lead. Dale Earnhardt Jr. lets Jeff Gordon in line.

Lap 229 -- GREEN FLAG: Clint Bowyer brings the field to the green followed by Jeff Gordon , Juan Montoya, Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Lap 223 -- A.J. Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Mark Martin and Greg Biffle on pit road.

Lap 222 -- YELLOW FLAG: Pit road is closed.

3:18 p.m. ET -- The drivers are firing up the engines ending the red flag after 24 minutes.

3:09 p.m. ET -- The track is clean but the SAFER barrier is still being repaired.

2:57 p.m. ET -- The report is the throttle on Martin Truex Jr.'s No. 56 was stuck causing the accident.

Lap 222 -- RED FLAG: NASCAR has stopped the race to clean up the debris and fluid.

Lap 220 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 6: Kasey Kahne and Martin Truex Jr. get together and slam the wall hard in Turns 3 and 4. Both cars are destroyed but Truex and Kahne appear to be OK. Matt Kenseth gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 217 -- Greg Biffle gets stuck on the outside and falls outside the top 20. Jeff Gordon passes Kyle Busch for third.

Lap 214 -- Travis Kvapil takes the No. 38 to the garage.

Lap 211 -- Denny Hamlin gets stuck on the outside and has fallen to seventh.

Lap 209 -- GREEN FLAG: Clint Bowyer brings the field to the green followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Juan Montoya, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch.

Lap 207 -- Mark Martin takes the wave-around and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 206 -- Jimmie Johnson has a slow pit stop and will restart eighth.

Lap 205 -- The leaders hit pit road. Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Juan Montoya take two tires and are now out front.

Lap 203 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 5: Hermie Sadler gets into the wall in Turn 3 bringing out the caution. Kurt Busch gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 200 -- Jimmie Johnson leads by two seconds. Denny Hamlin passes Jamie McMurray for third.

Lap 196 -- Kyle Busch gets bumped by Jamie McMurray and falls out of line. Busch down to sixth.

Lap 190 -- Tony Stewart is 28th and almost hit the wall as he got up into the loose rubber on the track.

Lap 188 -- Mark Martin goes a lap down. Ryan Newman falls to eighth after being stuck on the outside.

Lap 184 -- Mark Martin being penalized for changing lanes before the start/finish line and will serve a a pass-through penalty.

Lap 183 -- Clint Bowyer pushes Kyle Busch out of the way and passes him for second.

Lap 181 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson brings the field to the green followed by Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray and Denny Hamlin.

Lap 179 -- Paul Menard back on pit road.

Lap 178 -- Jimmie Johnson again wins the race off pit road and is back out front.

Lap 177 -- The leaders hit pit road. Clint Bowyer with four tires and no adjustments. Jimmie Johnson with four tires and a chassis adjustment. Denny Hamlin with four tires and multiple adjustments. Jamie McMurray with four tires and a track bar adjustment.

Lap 174 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 4: Dave Blaney gets into the wall after a flat tire. He stopped on the track and is penalized two laps for stopping on the track to bring out the caution. Paul Menard gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 173 -- Kyle Busch passes Jimmie Johnson for second.

Lap 172 -- David Reutimann has dropped to 12th after running in the top five most of the day.

Lap 170 -- Greg Biffle has yet to finish in the top five at Martinsville. He currently runs 14th.

Lap 168 -- A.J. Allmendinger up to seventh; Jeff Gordon climbs to eighth.

Lap 164 -- Trevor Bayne back in the race in 40th scored 35 laps down.

Lap 160 -- Jeff Burton is up to 11th after starting 32nd.

Lap 156 -- Landon Cassill appears to have gotten into somebody hard as the No. 09 has major front-end damage.

Lap 155 -- Kyle Busch applying some pressure to Denny Hamlin for third.

Lap 151 -- It's taken 150 laps but Jeff Gordon has found his way into the top 10, running 10th.

Lap 147 -- After taking just two tires or track position, Carl Edwards is falling quickly, down to 16th.

Lap 146 -- A.J. Allmendinger and David Ragan quietly having solid races as they run eighth and ninth, respectively.

Lap 142 -- Jimmie Johnson in second after passing Denny Hamlin.

Lap 140 -- Report from the garage is Trevor Bayne's No. 21 has a punctured radiator.

Lap 134 -- Clint Bowyer has a great start and passes Denny Hamlin for the lead.

Lap 133 -- Trevor Bayne takes the No. 21 to the garage.

Lap 132 -- GREEN FLAG: Denny Hamlin brings the field to the green followed by Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch and David Reutimann.

Lap 127 -- The leaders stay out but Brad Keselowski, Kasey Kahne, Brian Vickers, Joey Logano and Tony Stewart among those to pit.

Lap 125 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Marcos Ambrose spins and goes hard into the wall after contact with Michael McDowell. Martin Truex Jr. gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 123 -- Denny Hamlin gets around Jimmie Johnson and is back out front.

Lap 122 -- Kasey Kahne remains stuck on the outside from the restart and is down to 18th.

Lap 120 -- Kyle Busch falls to fourth as Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer get around him.

Lap 117 -- Carl Edwards took two tires on his pit stop and has climbed into the top 10.

Lap 115 -- Kyle Busch tries to get the lead but is stuck on the outside. Denny Hamlin lets him in line and Busch remains second.

Lap 114 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson brings the field to the green followed by Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, David Reutimann and Clint Bowyer.

Lap 109 -- Jimmie Johnson wins the race off pit road and is back out front.

Lap 108 -- The leaders hit pit road. Kyle Busch with four tires and no changes. Jimmie Johnson with four tires and a chassis adjustment. Denny Hamlin with a track bar adjustment. Jamie McMurray with four tires and a chassis adjustment.

Lap 107 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 2: Dave Blaney cuts a tire and hits the wall in Turn 4. No free pass is given as Blaney was the first car one lap down.

Lap 106 -- Juan Montoya on the move as he climbs to ninth after passing Bobby Labonte.

Lap 102 -- Kyle Busch is coming up on lap traffic. Michael McDowell will be the first to go a lap down.

Lap 98 -- Kasey Kahne losing spots this run as he falls to ninth.

Lap 92 -- Rough day early for Richard Childress Racing. Clint Bowyer the highest-running RCR car in sixth. Jeff Burton is 19th, Kevin Harvick is 20th and Paul Menard is a lap down in 33rd.

Lap 88 -- Denny Hamlin putting the pressure on Jimmie Johnson for second.

Lap 84 -- David Gilliland back in the race scored 27 laps down.

Lap 83 -- Juan Montoya in 12th; Jeff Gordon is 13th; Dale Earnhardt Jr. is 16th.

Lap 78 -- Kyle Busch gets around Jimmie Johnson and leads.

Lap 77 -- Kyle Busch challenging Jimmie Johnson for the lead.

Lap 76 -- Matt Kenseth passes Kurt Busch for 30th, the first car one lap down.

Lap 72 -- Bobby Labonte having a great day early running ninth after starting seventh.

Lap 69 -- Greg Biffle up to 15th after starting 33rd. They took four tires and no adjustments on their pit stop.

Lap 67 -- Ryan Newman finally settles into the inside line in eighth.

Lap 63 -- Ryan Newman is stuck on the outside and is falling rapidly.

Lap 62 -- Jimmie Johnson holds Ryan Newman off at the line to lead.

Lap 61 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson brings the field to the green followed by Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and David Reutimann.

Lap 60 -- Carl Edwards has a power steering issue and is going to have a difficult race steering by hand.

Lap 58 -- Paul Menard back on pit road.

Lap 55 -- Robby Gordon had a commitment line violation and will go to the rear of the field. Brian Vickers also to the rear for speeding on the exit of pit road.

Lap 54 -- Jimmie Johnson has a great stop and leads the race off pit road.

Lap 53 -- The leaders hit pit road. Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin happy with their cars and take minor adjustments. Jamie McMurray with four tires and a chassis adjustment.

Lap 52 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 1: David Gilliland has a flat tire and brings out the caution. Dave Blaney gets the free pass and is back on the lead lap.

Lap 50 -- At Lap 50, the top five are: Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch.

Lap 48 -- J.J. Yeley and Mike Skinner are in the garage.

Lap 46 -- Michael McDowell, Landon Cassill and Ken Schrader all a lap down.

Lap 44 -- Kyle Busch passes Jamie McMurray for fourth. Carl Edwards complaining about the handling of his car in 17th.

Lap 42 -- Trevor Bayne the latest to go a lap down.

Lap 37 -- Marcos Ambrose and David Ragan get together as they battle for 14th.

Lap 35 -- Denny Hamlin gets to the front and leads.

Lap 33 -- Ryan Newman takes the lead as he passes Kasey Kahne but Denny Hamlin is coming fast.

Lap 32 -- Kasey Kahne gets around Jamie McMurray for the lead as McMurray is complaining about a loose race car.

Lap 31 -- Kevin Harvick complaining about a loose car and is just trying to hold on until a caution.

Lap 29 -- Joe Nemechek takes the No. 87 to the garage.

Lap 28 -- Jimmie Johnson on the move as he runs seventh after starting 17th.

Lap 25 -- Mike Skinner goes a lap down. Ryan Newman challenging Kasey Kahne for second.

Lap 23 -- Hermie Sadler, J.J. Yeley and Joe Nemechek are all a lap down.

Lap 21 -- Joey Logano has dropped from third to ninth.

Lap 19 -- Jamie McMurray is close to catching the tail end of the field which would take the free pass away from Matt Kenseth.

Lap 14 -- Jamie McMurray has opened up a 1.8-second lead on the field.

Lap 12 -- Jeff Gordon up to 18th. Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers exchanging paint for 10th.

Lap 9 -- Martin Truex Jr. has been trapped on the outside and has fallen to 29th after starting 18th.

Lap 6 -- Matt Kenseth is being penalized for changing lanes before the green flag dropped and will serve a pass-through penalty which will put him a lap down.

Lap 3 -- Ryan Newman has dropped to fourth as he sits on the outside and can't get to the bottom.

Lap 1 -- Jamie McMurray gets a great start and leads.

1:17 p.m. ET -- GREEN FLAG: Jamie McMurray brings the field to the green and the Goody's Fast Relief 500 is under way.

1:11 p.m. ET -- The cars are rolling off pit road for four warm-up laps.

1:08 p.m. ET -- Sue Downs, Joe Brazzle, and Rashe Hall, representatives from Wounded Warrior Project, give the command: "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

1:01 p.m. ET -- Trace Atkins performs the national anthem.

12:30 p.m. ET -- FOX's pre-race coverage is under way.

11:45 a.m. ET -- It is a picture-perfect day at Martinsville Speedway. It's currently 59 degrees under sunny skies. Temperatures should reach the mid- to upper-60s this afternoon with maybe a cloud or two in the sky possible. Jamie McMurray is on the pole for the Goody's Fast Relief 500, his first pole at the .526-mile track. Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson have won the past nine races at Martinsville, and they roll off fifth and 17th, respectively.
