In the Draft: All about family

With wife expecting second child, Sadler heads to another new track: Iowa

This weekend we head to the second of four tracks on the Nationwide Series schedule that I have never raced, Iowa Speedway. There's always excitement and anticipation going into a track I've never driven, and the great thing about Iowa is that we have a LOT of practice (over five hours!), so I'll have plenty of time to learn the track and gain experience before qualifying and the race.

I'm even more excited that I'm heading to Iowa with some really good news on the personal side: my wife Amanda and I are expecting our second child! We just found out a few weeks ago and I got to make the announcement at my home track, Richmond International Raceway. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl, but we're due in November, so I know that the end of this season is going to be special no matter what. Hopefully we'll be bringing the new baby AND the championship trophy home after Homestead.

My 15-month old son Wyatt is going to be a great big brother. He is absolutely amazing and he is more and more fun every single day. Right now he's in a stage where he wants anything that's mine or Amanda's. He doesn't want to wear his sunglasses, he wants to wear ours. He doesn't want to eat his food, he wants to eat ours. It's really funny.

I also just got him the coolest toy recently, and it's probably the best money I've ever spent. Up until now Wyatt has had a little blue OneMain Financial-themed race car that he can ride around with, but it has to be pushed like a stroller. We just bought him a car that he can ride around in, but it has a remote control so my wife and I can actually steer it. It's awesome because he thinks he's driving the car, but we can control it and keep him safe. He loves it.

After Iowa we head to Charlotte Motor Speedway, the NASCAR racing hub. It's in everybody's backyard so you always want to run well because there are always lots of friends, family and shop guys at the track. Charlotte is a track that I've always run well at in the past, and I'm actually the track record holder there for the fastest lap ever completed in a Sprint Cup car, which is pretty cool. It's always a track I look forward to coming back to, and I can't wait to get there next week.

HOLLA!
