JOLIET, Ill. -- Justin Allgaier held off Carl Edwards to win the Nationwide Series' STP 300 Saturday night at Chicagoland Speedway, doing so as both his and Edwards' cars ran out of fuel. Allgaier, winning by 1.719 seconds, captured his first win of the season, and only the second in 14 races for Nationwide Series points earners. Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne returned from an illness-induced six-week layoff with a flourish. He finished third after starting 31st, and was the only one of the top three to finish under power. Edwards led 24 of the last 25 laps, but ran out of fuel on the backstretch of the 200th and final lap. Allgaier took the lead going into Turn 3, and then he ran out. Allgaier had enough momentum to get to the finish line first. Danica Patrick, in a one-week return to stock cars, finished 10th, six days after finishing 10th in the Indianapolis 500.
