1959: Richard Petty out-duels David Pearson to win the Music City 200 for his first victory at half-mile Nashville (Tenn.) Speedway. Petty leads the first 65 laps, Pearson the next 73 and Petty the final 62. The King wins by a lap, and Buck Baker is third, also a lap back. Petty wins eight more times at Nashville, and in 39 starts he finishes in the top five 24 times and the top 10 31 times.
