1970: Morgan Shepherd makes his NASCAR debut in the Hickory 276 at Hickory (N.C.) Speedway, finishing 19th in a 22-car field. Bobby Isaac starts from the pole and leads all 276 laps on the .363-mile track and wins by two laps over Dick Brooks and four laps over third-place Dave Marcis. Shepherd, who ran the last of his 514 Cup races in 2006, is still running full time in the Nationwide Series at age 69.
