UTV Blog: Charlotte

June 23, 2011, Special to NASCAR.COM, NASCAR.com

Hello NASCAR fans!

This is Tim and John with NASCAR.COM's Ultimate Tailgating Vehicle. We are brothers from Cleveland, who are going all over the country to meet NASCAR fans, rock some tailgating games and give away the Ultimate Tailgating Vehicle! This past week, we unveiled the NASCAR.COM Ultimate Tailgating Vehicle at the Rev'd Up concert in downtown Charlotte, N.C. While Josh Kelley and Gary Allan played some great country music right outside the NASCAR Hall of Fame, we played some Bags (corn hole) in the parking lot with fans. Everyone is really excited about the Ultimate Tailgating Vehicle -- you have to come check it out.

We were also at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend hanging out at the 2011 Sprint All-Star Race. If you have never made it to the track, you have to go. There are actually three separate tracks all within a mile of each other. It was packed with people camping in the lots, hanging out, and drinking super cold Coors Light. A lot of folks turn tailgating in to a week-long party between the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600. Despite being in such a big place, it was pretty easy to find us. We were in the vendor lot right next to the portable toilet.

Tim "The Machine" is openly challenging all race fans to games of corn hole. He's currently undefeated and looking for a challenge. The winner of each game is the first to score 21 points without going over. The most anyone has scored on The Machine is nine. We were right across from Kyle Busch's merchandise truck and next to us were friendly Marines who were volunteering at a concession booth to raise money for a local group. Even from our booth, we could hear the cars racing around the track. It was very cool.

When we first starting working with NASCAR, John got a text from our 23-year-old autistic cousin, Fletcher, saying, "Thank you so much for helping out my favoritist sport, its Nascarrriffic!" For Fletcher, NASCAR is better than Christmas. Also, he's a huge Jeff Gordon fan who drove all the way from Cleveland to go to the Coca-Cola 600. In honor of our cousin, John is adopting Jeff Gordon as his new favorite driver!

While in Charlotte, we are taking in the local culinary flavor. We had some tasty pimento cheese fries at Pinky's Westside Grill, some amazing pulled pork at Mac's Speed Shop, and phenomenal sandwiches at the Flying Saucer Draught House. So far, Charlotte is delicious. This week we hope to take in some of the night life at the epicenter. Whisky River, anyone?

We look forward to some more NASCAR and more fun. Here we come, America!
