1956: Joe Weatherly wins a 200-lap Convertible Series race at Civic Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y., one of two NASCAR races to be held on the paved quarter-mile track. On this day, Weatherly finishes a lap ahead of runner-up Glen Wood, with Larry Odo and Bob Welborn finishing third and fourth, also a lap back. Civic Stadium would host its only Cup race two years later.
