CONCORD, N.C. -- Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced Tuesday that Jim Pohlman was named interim crew chief of the No. 42 team and Juan Montoya.

Pohlman has been with the organization since 2006 in numerous roles.

"We are pleased to have someone of Jim's caliber to be able to place into this role on the No. 42 team. Jim has been with us a number of years and I have confidence in his abilities to move the team forward," team owner Chip Ganassi said.

Pohlman replaces Brian Pattie, who had served as crew chief since taking over from Jimmy Elledge with 20 races remaining in the 2008 season. Pattie and Montoya combined for one victory at Watkins Glen in 2010 and 39 top-10s in 111 starts together. They made the Chase once, in 2009, and finished eighth in the points. They have finished 17th in each of the past two seasons.

The No. 42 team is currently 17th in the points standings, 59 points out of the 10th position.
