1971: Country music legend and occasional NASCAR driver Marty Robbins records his first top-10 in the Cup Series, finishing seventh in the Southern 500 at Darlington. Bobby Allison wins the race by one lap over Richard Petty, and Buddy Baker finishes third, four laps back. Robbins finishes 28 laps behind Allison. Roy Mayne, who finishes 10th, is 47 laps back.
