1962: Larry Frank finishes last at Richmond Rural Fairgrounds, six days after winning the prestigious Southern 500 for his only victory in the Cup Series. Frank wins the 500 on Sept. 3 by 5 seconds over Junior Johnson; he doesn't start the next race, Sept. 7 at Hickory; he then finishes last in the 33-car field in the Capital City 300 on Richmond's half-mile dirt track. He completes two of the 300 laps before his car breaks down. Joe Weatherly gets the win by more than a lap over Jim Paschal.
