1965: Future two-time then-Busch Series champion Jack Ingram makes his Cup debut in the Buddy Shuman 250 at Hickory (N.C.) Speedway, finishing last in a field of 26 cars. Ingram's 1964 Ford has handling issues, and his day ends after four laps at the four-tenths-mile dirt track. Richard Petty gets the win by 3 seconds over David Pearson. Ingram wins then-Busch Series titles in 1982 and 1985, and his 31 victories rank fifth in the series.
