1958: Bob Welborn wins the only Convertible Series race run at Salisbury (N.C.) Speedway, a five-eighths-mile dirt track. Larry Frank finishes second, the only other driver to complete the 155 laps (96.9 miles). Bill Morton is third, four laps back. The following month, Salisbury hosts its one Cup race.
