1956: Tim Flock starts from pole position and guides a Carl Kiekhaefer-owned Chrysler to victory on the Daytona beach-road course. Flock led all but three laps, giving up the top spot to Jim Paschal in a mid-race pit stop. Billy Myers took second and Ralph Moody third in the 76-car field. The race was shortened by two laps because of the incoming tide.
