1966: Richard Petty becomes the first two-time winner of the Daytona 500, finishing as the only car on the lead lap in a race shortened two laps by rain. Petty started from the pole and led 103 of the 198 laps. Runner-up Cale Yarborough is one lap down to Petty's Plymouth at the finish, with third-place David Pearson another lap behind.
