1931: NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Junior Johnson is born on this day. Johnson, a mythic figure in his home of Wilkes County, N.C., won 50 races as a driver and six championships as a car owner in NASCAR's premier series. He was voted into the NASCAR Hall's inaugural class.
