1921: Wendell Scott, the first black driver to win a race in NASCAR's top series, is born. Scott, a NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee, competed in 495 events during 13 years and notched his lone victory at Speedway Park in Jacksonville, Fla., on Dec. 1, 1963.
