Allgaier gets new crew chief one day after re-signing
Just one day after announcing Justin Allgaier would return to the Turner Scott Motorsports team for 2013, the team announced he would do so with a new crew chief.
Scott Zipadelli, a longtime NASCAR Nationwide Series crew chief who has nearly 200 series starts, will lead Allgaier in the No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to join Turner Scott Motorsports, especially having teammates to collaborate with," Zipadelli said. "I'm definitely looking forward to working with Justin (Allgaier).”
Team co-owner Steve Turner also said he is excited about the pairing.
“He's a very talented guy with a lot of experience in the Nationwide Series, so I think he's going to bring a lot of knowhow to this program. Our Nationwide program just keeps getting better, and we have high expectations for this coming season,” Turner said. “We have everything we need to win races and get Justin onto that championship stage in 2013, and Scott’s going to be the guy to lead us there."
Zipadelli has 11 top-fives and 46 top-10 showings in his time as a crew chief, which dates back to 2007. Most recently, Zipadelli was at RAB Racing, where he oversaw the No. 99 team.
Allgaier is coming off a season in which he finished sixth in the Nationwide points standings, amassing one win, six top-five finishes and 19 top-10 finishes.
