Tyler Young announces full Truck Series slate
January 28, 2014, Staff report, NASCAR.com
23-year-old has 11 career starts in series
Tyler Young has secured the first full-time ride of his career in a NASCAR national series. The 23-year-old will pilot the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2014 for family-owned Young's Motorsports.
Young has made 11 starts in the series since 2012, including seven last year. His best finish is a 19th-place effort in June at Texas Motor Speedway.
"I can't wait to get the season started," Young said. "We are a small, family-owned team, but everyone here is so passionate and driven. ... The Truck Series, in my opinion, is one of the most competitive series in NASCAR. I honestly expect this year to be a learning experience for me, but there is no reason we can't go out there and knock off some top-15s and maybe even some top-10s.
Bryan Berry will serve as crew chief of the No. 02 team. He has called 178 races in the Camping World Truck Series, along with 55 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. In the Truck Series, Berry has eight top-fives and 27 top-10s in the Truck Series.
The Truck Series starts its season Feb. 21 with the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
