Dale Jr. has nine top-two finishes on NASCAR's longest track

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a lot of fond memories at Talladega Superspeedway heading into Sunday's Aaron's 499 Sprint Cup Series race. Last October’s second-place finish to Jamie McMurray was a reminder of Earnhardt Jr.’s supremacy on the 2.66-mile tri-oval course roughly a decade ago. From 2001 through 2004, Earnhardt Jr. won five out of the seven races at Talladega and placed second in the other two. His four consecutive wins (2001-03) remain a track record. In 28 career starts at Talladega, Earnhardt Jr. has nine top-two finishes and 14 top-10s.
