The history of Furniture Row Racing and full crew for Martin Truex Jr.
Engine builder: Earnhardt-Childress Racing
Debut season: 2005
Barney Visser grew up dreaming not of racing, but of business. That drive turned into a successful career out west as the owner of several retailers -- but when Visser decided to cut back, he caught the NASCAR bug.
Racing as a hobby at Colorado National Speedway led to his desire to start a NASCAR Nationwide Series team, which has evolved into a successful single-car NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team. The co-owner of Furniture Row, Visser now also owns Furniture Row Racing. The Denver outfit is the only NASCAR shop located west of the Mississippi, and its 35,000 square-foot facility boasts a state-of-the-art seven-post testing machine.
The organization earned its first win in 2011, with Regan Smith taking the checkered flag at historic Darlington Raceway in the Southern 500. Its finest season was 2013, when Kurt Busch and the No. 78 team became the first single-car team to qualify for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup postseason. Other records set included the team's best points finish (10th), top-five finishes (11), top-10 finishes (16) and total laps led (444).
With Kurt Busch moving to Stewart-Haas Racing in the offseason, the organization signed Martin Truex Jr. to a multiyear year. He currently pilots the team's No. 78 Chevrolet.
