Engine Builder: ECR Engines
Debut season: 2008
After a successful decade-plus tenure owning a NASCAR XFINITY Series team, husband and wife Tad and Jodi Geschickter along with former NBA player and current ESPN NASCAR analyst Brad Daugherty teamed up to form JTG Daugherty Racing and debuted their team with driver Marcos Ambrose in the 2009 Daytona 500.
After initially aligning with Michael Waltrip Racing and Toyota, the team switched to Chevrolet in 2014, forming a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing, and is powered by ECR engines.
Before former open-wheeler AJ Allmendinger became the team's third full-time driver this season, Ambrose and 2000 Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte drove the No. 47.
AJ Allmendinger and the JTG Daugherty Racing team are fired up to secure a coveted playoff spot in The Chase for their brands during the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Last year, JTG Daugherty Racing’s brands were front and center leading the 43-car field at Daytona International Speedway, Watkins Glen International, Sonoma Raceway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway with the No. 47 Chevrolet SS. Allmendinger scored pole awards at both Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International. Also, he collected three top-10 finishes and seven top-15 finishes en route to the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
