Sprint Cup Series star and fitness guru Edwards makes an appearance on hit NBC show
Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Subway Ford Fusion, will help plenty of contestants hold strong on their New Year's resolutions Tuesday night, making an appearance on NBC's "The Biggest Loser."
With the finish line getting closer in sight, the show will air from 8 to 10 p.m. ET and will feature the players heading to the race track to meet someone who knows all about finish lines: Edwards.
A fitness enthusiast himself, Edwards will motivate the contestants and rev them up with a fast-paced workout on the racetrack grandstand at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, Calif.
Over the past decade, Edwards has built a storied NASCAR career, moving his way from the Camping World Truck Series to NASCAR's elite Sprint Cup and Nationwide series, winning a Nationwide championship in 2007. He has chalked up 21 Sprint Cup wins in NASCAR's top series and is in high company on the Nationwide all-time win list, holding fourth place with 38 career victories.
He is considered one of NASCAR's top drivers and is among the most respected and recognized, as well as strongest, competitors and nearly claimed his first Sprint Cup championship in 2011, tying for first in points with Tony Stewart, but losing the tiebreaker (number of wins).
Growing up in Missouri, Edwards began his racing career in 1994 at the age of 15, driving four-cylinder cars and winning four feature races on the tracks around Missouri and Illinois in the four-cylinder series.
