The wait is finally over -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. has unveiled his 2014 Sprint Cup Series paint scheme.

With prominent undertones of patriotic red, white and blue to honor his primary sponsor, National Guard, Earnhardt's Chevrolet SS trim has a more reserved look to it than previous paint jobs, until you look a little closer.

Earnhardt's No. 88 adorned on the side of his ride illustrates a yellowish-gold hue with a red and black outline, not too unlike the 'S' emblazoned on Superman's chest.

As you may recall, at June's Cup race at Michigan International Speedway, Earnhardt Jr. sported a Superman-themed 'Man of Steel' car. Coincidence? I think not.
