Patrick trails just two other athletes worldwide in number of Yahoo! searches

Yahoo! revealed Tuesday its annual "Year in Review", a look back at the top stories and trends of the year, based on the daily search habits of the millions of people on the popular site.

While the list of top-searched athletes offers up some rather interesting names, such as NBA forward Lamar Odom and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, both of whom haven't played a single minute in their respective sports' current season, the name of a particular rookie Sprint Cup Series driver popped up at third overall on the list and the only driver in the top 10.

Danica Patrick endured her first full season in the Cup Series in 2013, adjusting to a hard learning curve along the way, but her moderate success was enough to generate plenty of buzz around the driver of the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Go Daddy Chevrolet.

Of course, earning a record-setting pole ahead of the sport's Super Bowl -- the Daytona 500 -- certainly didn't hurt.

With a full season under her belt and an improved SHR stable that now includes former Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch and the ever-steady Kevin Harvick alongside owner and three-time Cup champion Tony Stewart, Patrick could easily move up the list to No. 1 by this time next year.
