Daytona International Speedway, RCR team up for special exhibition in England
Race fans in England will get a special treat when The Intimidator's famed No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet will race in the annual Hillclimb event in the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11-14 in West Sussex.
Kerry Earnhardt, the oldest son of the late Dale Earnhardt, will drive the car that The Intimidator used during the 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. It's part of a joint effort between Daytona International Speedway and Richard Childress Racing to add to the event, which celebrates the history of motorsports and is held on the grounds of the Goodwood House.
DIS President Joie Chitwood III also will drive in the event, piloting the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS used by Austin Dillon in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
"My dad, Joie Chitwood Jr., had the distinction of racing against Richard Childress back in the 1960s so it’s great to come full circle and drive one of his cars at Goodwood," Joie Chitwood III said. "It’s a privilege to be behind the wheel of the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro SS and to be a part of this diverse celebration of motorsports."
