Driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet helps Campus Kitchen at UGA prepare meals, conducts Q&A for local seniors
Four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon visited the Athens Community Council on Aging on Thursday, working alongside student volunteers from the Campus Kitchen at UGA (CKUGA), part of the nationwide Campus Kitchens network that rescues excess food to provide healthy meals to older adults in need.
Gordon was joined by leaders from AARP Foundation, which leads Drive to End Hunger; and from The Campus Kitchens Project and the Campus Kitchen at UGA, whose senior hunger outreach work is supported by the Foundation.
After helping unload food and prepare meals, Gordon conducted a question-and-answer session for seniors and took questions from the media.

During his tour of the area, Jeff Gordon listened in as Sarah Jackson, the UGA Campus Kitchen coordinator, explained the group's mission.
Amber Flanigan is among the UGA students to volunteer her time in helping to fight hunger among seniors. She also helped show Gordon the ropes and was one of several young ambassadors to impress the driver. "I love what UGA Campus Kitchen is about," Gordon said. "They've got the brains, the heart and the hustle to make a difference."
Ditching his fire suit for an apron, Gordon showed off his knife skills by cutting up fresh fruit. He later remarked that using a knife, for him, was more dangerous than driving a racecar. "I'm blown away by these students," Gordon would say. "They are the future leaders of their generation."

One of these things is not like the other. Can you spot a trim Jeff Gordon in the midst of these massive Georgia football players? The veteran visited with the Bulldogs' football team -- which opens its season Saturday at Clemson -- before leaving Athens.
