Loser has to buy, wear jersey and hat of opposing team during Speedweeks
If the Denver Broncos (a favorite to win as of Wednesday afternoon) defeat the Seattle Seahawks, Kahne must purchase a Broncos jersey and hat to wear at Speedweeks, while Busch will have to don Seahawks gear if Seattle wins.
“Of course I’m a Broncos fan, so Broncos all the way," Busch told Sirius/XM NASCAR Radio during a Tuesday interview. "I’ve been a Broncos fan since the early to mid-90s. We didn’t have an NFL team in Vegas, but growing up the Broncos were kind of our home team since all the games were on TV there back then. I’ve been a fan ever since and it’s great to see them be successful. I’ve watched a lot of different quarterbacks there over the years, John Elway, Jake Plummer, Jay Cutler, Tim Tebow, and now Peyton Manning and all that he’s accomplished in his career.”
(Side note: Busch may also have been a Las Vegas Outlaws fan back in 2001, but they went 4-6 in the XFL's lone season. So on second thought, probably not.)
On the opposite side we have Kahne, a native of Enumclaw, Wash. A diehard Seahawks fan, he and Seattle's Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson will tag-team a charity event this June to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of King County.
Meanwhile, Busch is taking the bet seriously. He even updated his Twitter profile picture to a Photoshopped version of him and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
Regardless of who wins, it adds an extra layer of excitement to the Super Bowl and we'll sure watch to see which driver shows up in NFL get-up at Speedweeks, which start Feb. 13 at Daytona International Speedway.
