"The DRIVE" celebrity concert and golf event will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of King County
Washington native Kasey Kahne will be giving back to his home state in 2014 as he teams up with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to co-host a major celebrity charity event to drive awareness to the Boys & Girls Club of King County, as well as raise funds for the club's programs that support feeding young people and educating children on living a healthy lifestyle.
The fundraising event known as "The DRIVE" will be held next summer in the Seattle area June 23-24. The event will be at the award-winning Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash., and will feature a celebrity concert and golf tournament.
This event is one of many that the Kasey Kahne Foundation (KKF) has put on. Established in 2005, KKF's goal is to raise awareness and funds to support charities that care for ill children and their families. Through Kahne's foundation, he has hosted several sprint car races in Washington and even a charitable motorcycle ride to raise awareness and funding for his charity and the charities it supports.
"It’s very important to me to stay connected with the Seattle area and the state of Washington," Kahne said. "To have the opportunity to partner the Kasey Kahne Foundation with Seattle Seahawks star Russell Wilson is a privilege. Through our efforts, we are going to be able to give back to the community and bring awareness to the health and development of the Seattle area’s youth."
Joining Kahne and Wilson at "The DRIVE" will be fellow NFL players and NASCAR drivers, along with other sports and entertainment celebrities that will be announced at a later date.
Along with leading the Seahawks to an NFL-best regular season record this year, Wilson is also an active volunteer and supporter within the Seattle community. Regularly visiting the Seattle Children's Hospital, Wilson also donates money to charity for every NFL touchdown he scores. In the offseason he hosts the Russell Wilson Passing Academy, a series of youth football camps that support diabetes awareness and funding.
"While Kasey has roots here in Washington, I’m working hard to grow mine in this community," Wilson said. "Together, we plan to put on a great event that will move the Boys & Girls Club of King County further down the field in their mission of serving thousands of youth in the community."
