Dale Jr. dominates 2013 best selling die-casts
Dale Jr. clinches top three spots; Stewart's fan base holds strong through season

As the years go by and NASCAR transitions with time, fans seem to hold their favorite driver close to their hearts, and this year's best selling die-casts are a perfect example of that.

Claiming the top three spots on Lionel Racing's Top 10 Die-casts of 2013, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s popularity sure isn't fading anytime soon. His No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet was the best-selling 1:24 scale die-cast car of the year, while Earnhardt Jr.'s Diet Mountain Dew and National Guard/Man of Steel cars followed in second and third positions, respectively.

"Every year it holds true, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a fan favorite among collectors and fans who spend their hard-earned discretionary income on NASCAR merchandise," said Howard Hitchcock, Vice President and General Manager of Lionel Racing.

"His National/Guard Man of Steel die-cast was our best-selling special paint scheme of the year, and his primary paint schemes outpaced the field by a wide margin."

While Dale Jr. dominated the charts, other popular drivers made an appearance on the top 10 list as well.

Tony Stewart pulled in fourth with his Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet. Even though Stewart was out for the last three months of the season with a leg injury suffered in a sprint car crash, his strong fan base kept his die-cast sales thriving.

Seeing the top 10 list for the first time, Clint Bowyer's PEAK/Duck Dynasty Toyota Camry that he raced at Watkins Glen came in ninth.

"This car was a bona fide hit with NASCAR fans," Hitchcock said. "Bowyer and Duck Dynasty are a perfect match and that combination resulted in one of the most sought after collectibles of the year."
