On his way to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., Kyle Busch stopped by Times Square and "FOX Super Bowl Daily" on FOX Sports 1 to talk about his beloved Denver Broncos and why he likes his chances with the new Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup format.
"I'm a huge Denver Broncos fan, been since I was about 8 years old," Busch said.
"…John Elway actually was a part of Auto Nation car dealerships years ago. Came to Vegas, signed some autographs. Met him as a kid. Still got the football today so became a Broncos fan. What do you know? A couple of years later, they win two championships.
"It's been a while since they've been back to the Super Bowl but got No. 18. I'm No. 18. Peyton's No. 18."
Busch predicted the Broncos would beat the Seattle Seahawks 31-27.
"FOX Super Bowl Daily" analyst Tim Ryan turned Busch's attention to the new Chase format announced on Thursday, saying "I think (the changes) are going to benefit you, right?"
"I hope they benefit me, for sure," the fourth-place finisher in last year's Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup said. "If we had these new Chase rules a couple years ago, I actually would have been champion so we're going to see if we can't follow that up and win it all here in 2014."
Another "FOX Super Bowl Daily" analyst, former All-Pro wide receiver and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series owner Randy Moss said, "I've been a big fan of yours since I started watching NASCAR so good luck to you and your team."
"What type of changes have you and your team made to try to go for the championship this season?" Moss asked.
"We were probably one of the top three best cars all year long: Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and myself, but the changes this year is going to be more about consistency," Busch said.
"We're not changing a whole lot because we've got Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, myself staying all on board with Joe Gibbs Racing. We've got all the same three crew chiefs. We've got all the same three lead engineers.
"Having that camaraderie and that chemistry, being able to stay the same, I think just builds our team to the next level. Just builds that strength of being able to communicate and have the similarity of being able to go week in, week out racing. Just kind of dominate. That's what we've got to do."
The M&M's driver, who also will be sporting a Skittles paint scheme this season, compared the NFL's biggest game to NASCAR's Great American Race and acknowledged the buzz around the new Chase format.
"The Daytona 500 is coming up, three weeks away," Busch said. "It's our biggest race of the year, the Super Bowl."
"A lot of new changes going on this year with the cars being a little bit different with the new points structure being different so a lot of things changing for NASCAR and a lot of the drivers are pretty pumped up about it. I know some of the fans are too."
"I've heard plenty of it on Twitter so we're looking forward to a great season."
