Edwards' crew member hit in face by lug nut
Front tire changer on wrong end of flying object during pit stop

Whether it’s a right hook or a lug nut, flying objects can be an infield hazard on the NASCAR circuit.

Mike Lingerfelt was reminded of that on Saturday night.

A front tire changer for Carl Edwards’ crew, Lingerfelt got an unforgettable taste of the limelight when his face made news during the Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Speedway.

Casey Mears left the track after taking a punch in his altercation with Marcos Ambrose after the race, while Lingerfelt was on the losing end of an errant lug nut during a pit stop.

Lingerfelt posted a painful picture of the damage on his Twitter account after Edwards finished ninth.

“Not real happy about taking a lug nut to the face or the shredding tires tonight!” he posted.
