Alabama Governor Robert Bentley will serve as the Grand Marshal for the race and will given the command: "Drivers, start your engines." Auburn University Head Football Coach Gus Malzahn will drive the pace car around the track during the pre-race laps.
Bentley and Malzahn will be a part of pre-race festivities at the Driver Introductions Stage at the start/finish line.
"We are thrilled to have Governor Bentley and Coach Malzahn here with us for the Aaron's 499," Talladega Superspeedway Chariman Grant Lynch said in a release. "Both of these gentlemen have done so much for the state of Alabama. We will have a lot of excited fans, many from the state of Alabama, who can't wait to see them perform their pre-race duties. I know our fans will welcome them to Talladega Superspeedway."
Bentley was elected as the 53rd Governor of the State of Alabama in 2010. Malzahn guided the Auburn Tigers to the BCS National Championship Game last season in his first season as the head coach at the school. Auburn lost the game to Florida State, 34-31.
