Each summer when the ESPY Awards roll around, there's often as much talk about the fashion choices of the world's top athletes when they get together for the red-carpet event as there is about who won the actual awards.
Some outfits -- like NBA point guard Russell Westbrook's awkward white dress shirt with baby blue sleeves adorned with roses -- just don't work, while others most certainly do.
Stewart-Haas Racing's Danica Patrick found herself in the former category, first being named a member of ForTheWin's "13 best dressed athletes at the ESPYs" and then winning -- handily, I might add -- a fan vote for best dressed overall.
The sophomore NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and her one-shoulder white dress took home 47.9 percent of the vote (20,058 votes overall) for the crown, edging out NHRA driver Courtney Force (27.3 percent).
Tennis star Maria Sharapova was next on the list at 7.5 percent. Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was the male athlete with the most votes at 661.
Patrick will look for another win this weekend, when she'll compete in the 20th annual Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She finished 30th in her first Cup Brickyard appearance last year.
