"And for the record my cars are always good."
-- Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished ninth in Sunday's Crown Royal presents, The John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard, and there was one fan very important to the Hendrick Motorsports driver that recognized just how hard he had to work for that top-10 finish: his mom.
Following the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Earnhardt tweeted out a picture of a text conversation between he and his mother Brenda Gee in which she reckons his likeness to his famous, Hall of Fame father in that he, like Dale Sr., can take a less-than-ideal car and do something with it.
Earnhardt, ever the gentleman, thanks his mom for the kind words -- which he says are "the best thing I think you've ever told me" -- before making sure he points out that his Hendrick No. 88 Chevrolet team always gives him a good car.
It was a touching look into Earnhardt's personal world. It's crazy to think that just six short months ago, we lived in an @DaleJr-less world and would've never gotten to see things like this.
