'Dancing with the Stars' champ should meet these 'machines'

Three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves called out NASCAR drivers in an interview with TMZ, but he would be wise to watch himself around Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne.

The winner of the fifth season of "Dancing with the Stars" was asked whether race car drivers were athletes, and he responded "for you to sustain two to three hours of racing, the G-force that we're going and the high degrees of heat that we have, it's pretty, pretty intense. So it's an endurance type of workout. That's why you cannot be too big."

When the interviewer suggested that's "why we don't see chubby race car drivers," Castroneves responded:

"Only NASCAR. IndyCar we're lean, and NASCAR, they are allowed to get themselves a little more of the beer belly."

As NASCAR fans know from the sport's preseason brand campaign below, Sprint Cup Series drivers are indeed athletes, and it's sometimes difficult to know which is the machine, the driver or his Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion or Toyota Camry.
