LONG POND, Pa. -- Kyle Larson celebrated his 22nd birthday on Friday by winning the Coors Light Pole for Sunday's GoBowling.com 400 (1 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Pocono Raceway. But a day earlier, he broke the heart of his "girlfriend" on her birthday.
"I got her a ring pop and she didn't really like that."
On Thursday, the daughter of Larson's manager turned six years old, but Larson spoiled her special day with news of his baby boy due in December.
"We had a little birthday lunch at the office there," Larson said. "She's actually mad at me right now because I got my real girlfriend pregnant, and she thought she was my girlfriend.
"That was fun. I got her a dozen roses and messed with her. I got her a ring pop and she didn't really like that."
Beyond winning the pole, how did Larson mark the occasion of his birth?
"…flew here and watched the 360 Nationals from Knoxville on my computer," said the dirt racer at heart who became the first NASCAR Drive for Diversity graduate to earn a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole.
