2012: Finished third in points after his rear gear broke at Homestead battling for the championship. Had five wins and four poles. 2011: Finished sixth in points, the first time in his career he finished outside of the top five. 2010-2006: Won five consecutive Sprint Cup championships. Driver of the year 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010.
2012: Made his ninth Chase appearance after announcing he would be leaving Roush Fenway Racing for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013. Won three races, including the Daytona 500 and two races during the Chase. 2009: Won the first two races of the season, joining only four other drivers in history to do that. 2003: Won the Championship, despite having only one win.
2012: Finished 10th in points in his seventh consecutive Chase appearance. 2011: Moved into third on the all-time series wins list with a victory at Atlanta (85). Has four Sprint Cup championships (1995, 1997-1998, 2001), has won the Daytona 500 three times (1997, 1999, 2005) and the inaugural Brickyard 400.

Also had a new crew chief in Darian Grubb. 2011: After finishing ninth in his “second year slump,” he won one race and got a new crew chief for 2012. 2010: Hamlin had the Championship all but locked up, with eight wins, 14 top fives and 18 top tens and two poles. He ran into trouble in Homestead and Jimmie Johnson earned number five. 2006: Became the first rookie to win the Budweiser Shootout and quality for the Chase.
