2012: Made his ninth Chase appearance after announcing he would be leaving Roush Fenway Racing for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013. Won three races, including the Daytona 500 and two races during the Chase. 2009: Won the first two races of the season, joining only four other drivers in history to do that. 2003: Won the Championship, despite having only one win.

2012: Finished fifth in points with 14 top fives, 17 top 10s, five wins and three poles. Also had a new crew chief in Darian Grubb. 2011: After finishing ninth in his “second year slump,” he won one race and got a new crew chief for 2012. 2010: Hamlin had the Championship all but locked up, with eight wins, 14 top fives and 18 top tens and two poles. He ran into trouble in Homestead and Jimmie Johnson earned number five. 2006: Became the first rookie to win the Budweiser Shootout and quality for the Chase.
