Earnhardt’s largest career lead in the Cup standings came in 2004, after the June 6 race at Dover, when he paced Jimmie Johnson by 98 points -- roughly equivalent to 25 points under the current scoring system. Earnhardt led the series after 10 races in 2004, a high-water mark for the driver of the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
