Today's NASCAR Number is 3.
3: The number of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victories posted by competitors driving a No. 34 car. David Ragan joined historic company when he won the Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford. Only two drivers before him had won with that number, the first being Jim Roper, who won the first race of 1949 in NASCAR’s premier series at Charlotte Speedway, then a .75-mile dirt track. Fifteen years later, Wendell Scott won in his No. 34 Chevrolet to become the only African-American driver ever to win a race at NASCAR’s highest level -- and not until NASCAR corrected a scoring error post-race and awarded him the win.
