No Audio in PitCommand/Scanner Macintosh Users

I have a MAC and I am unable to get audio to work in PitCommand or Scanner?

The following requirements are needed for audio when using a MAC with TrackPass Scanner or PitCommand.

  • Windows Media® Player Plug-in **
  • Flip4Mac Plug-in **
  • Safari

Please note:

It isn't necessary to install actual programs; you just need to have the actual plug-in files. However, the means for obtaining the standalone plug-in files is a more complicated and lengthy process.

For MAC audio issues with PitCommand:

  1. Download and install Windows Media® Player 9 for Mac OS X.
    • This can be found here.
    • Or you may go to http://www.microsoft.com and look in the top right corner for the Search bar. Search for the term: "WMP Mac" and it will be the very first result.
  2. Download and install Flip4Mac (Windows Media® Components for QuickTime).
    • This can be found here
    • Or you may go to http://www.microsoft.com and look in the top right corner for the Search bar. Search for the term: "Flip4Mac" and it will be the very first result, but it will be labeled "Windows Media® Components for QuickTime".
  3. After installing Flip4Mac, you will need to go into the System Preferences. This can be done by clicking on the Apple Menu (blue Apple in the top left-hand corner of the desktop) and choosing System Preferences.
  4. Under the section labeled Other you will see Flip4Mac WMV. Click on this to open the Flip4Mac Preferences. Under the Plug-in tab, you need to make sure to clear the checkmark out of the box labeled "Use Flip4Mac WMV Internet plug-in". Now select the Movie tab and place a checkmark in all four boxes. You may now exit System Preferences.
  5. After both programs have been installed and you have configured the Flip4Mac System Preferences, you will now need to open the Macintosh HD and then open the folder named Library. Now open or expand that folder and you will see numerous files and file types. Two of the files will have Flip4Mac in the name; another one will be named Windows Media Plugin. If you do not see either of the above files, they are most likely located in the "Disabled Internet Plug-ins". You will need to drag and drop any (if not all) of those files into the main Internet Plug-ins folder. You should now see this on your screen:

  6. You may now close this window out and launch Safari and log into NASCAR.com as normal. Launch PitCommand and select the driver's feed you wish to listen to, or the Radio Broadcast. Now move your mouse over the words "TrackPass PitCommand" in the upper left corner of the window. Click and hold the mouse button down, and then drag downward and you will notice the top part of the window scroll down. Keep dragging until you see a bright blue link that says "Click Here". It will look like this:

***Notice the bottom part of the window remains unaffected***

  7. After clicking the above link, the window will "refresh" and appear as normal. You may now choose the driver's audio feed or Radio Broadcast and be able to hear the audio.

***The steps for TrackPass Scanner are very similar to the steps for PitCommand. Instead of having to click and drag inside the window, you may have to make the window larger by dragging the lower right corner downwards. You should now see two links. As with PitCommand, you want to click on the words "Click Here" in bright blue letters. Remember, in order for the links to show up you will have to select an audio feed (A driver's feed or the Radio Broadcast)***
