Ah, rookies ...

5:11 PM
Denny Hamlin's crew was busy unloading the backup No. 11 after the rookie bounced off the tire barriers coming out of Turn 10 with five minutes to go in the first practice session. The car, which had substantial left-side damage, was up on jackstands in the garage.

Best place to watch the race (besides TV) is Turn 7. The track improvements over the years have been great! (especsially the tunnels). Also, they finished the freeway through Vallejo! Now, if they could just make HWY 37 with 4 lanes all the way! But that would require some common sense.

I undestand that car owner points are important, but how can you develop a driver to be a complete Cup driver if you take him out of the seat for a road course and hire a ringer. Point Ron Fellows in the #32, which I undrstand it was a done deal last year and PJ Jones in the #4. Mike Joy said it was Wimmer's idea to get out of the #4 and put Jones in it. But if I was a car owner or crew chief, and my driver opted to give up his seat on a road course, I would loose all confidence I had in him. At least Kvapil got a ride in the #78 and I use the term ride very loosely

A tip for Stewart...perhaps he should go back to Pier 39 or North Beach for a new banner tommorow (Sat.) Heck, another round of good luck, couldn't hurt! The Home Depot team could add it to the one flying half mast ;-) BTW - weather at Infineon raceway is rather warm and calm throughout the weekend. Simply picture perfect!! They say don't mix beer and wine...well this weekend I say go for it!

I wonder if Hamlin had the same problem when he raced this track on his video game?
