Happy trails

5:22 PM
A smooth Happy Hour here at Infineon Raceway, with 40 of the 43 cars making at least one lap and no incidents reported. Scott Pruett is in Mid-Ohio for the Rolex sports car race, while Brian Simo and Kevin Harvick sat out the final practice.

Good Luck to Pruett, in the #01

Ward gave up and it is too bad. Great job by Gilliland to qualify at Infineon. Notice that Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon are still among the fastest on the road course though neither qualified as well as expected.

J. Gordon Has to finish in the top 5!!!

Tony can drive anything and he doesn't have to be P1 to show it on the track. Thanks to a great sponsor like Home Depot, he can drive different types of race cars like sprints and mods on the dirt which just makes him better. Just got to get rid a little of that belly but, thats what happens whe you own the "Pizza Burger" at Eldora!

Good Luck to JR. He sure has been consistent this year. Hopefully he can keep this going at Infineon!!!

Good luck to Junior tomorow! He was good in practice, right up there with Stewart and Gordon. I think it was the wrong idea though to bring a new car to the track this week end; one that hasn't even been tested yet. I think that they should have broughten one that they know can finish in the top ten, not one that just came out of DEI. Good luck to ya' june!!

Someone thinks it's wrong for DEI to bring a car to Sonoma that has not been tested. Do you know that these cars are a much different car than Jr. uses on an oval track.and they don't test cars for a road course race. June Bug has overcome a lot of things in his career and even if he hasn't won a road course, there is always a first time. Still your number one fan, keep up the good work and win this one for dear old Dad......

What's up with Harvick? Tries to wreck Menard for the win. He couldn't settle for second(first loser) then he got the finish he needed!!

I think road courses should be ran on dirt, where this sport began.

Sonoma got to love it... Sonoma measures the pure talent of a racecar driver and divides those race car drivers who just have the food cars and those driveers who actually have talent. Robby Gordon in particular stands out... I consider Robby Gordon the best driver in the world. The other Gordon might be argued as better of the 2 Gordons but who is Jeff driving for? Where is he in points? Numbers just dont match the equipment do they now?

Starting fourth is a good sign - let's go Ryan!

Pruett drives the #01 in Grand-Am -- where he spent all of Saturday, at Mid-Ohio. I think RCR thought about having Simo practice the #07, so he appeared in the Trackpass data for that car -- even though he DNQ in his own #61 and never took the 07 on the track in Happy Hour.

Nascar = My Way during the month of June.
As a fan of Johnny Benson throghout his career I almost cried seeing him win, then twice,, wow !!! Also I hate the way the Busch brothers are treated by media, etc. They have more talent then a lot of guys out there yet you don't want to give credit, how many championships does Jr have? none? Score one for a Busch.

David Gilliland? Robert Yates Racing?
Huuuuuuuuuummmmmmm!

GO JR GO......to bad he couldn't have qualified as well as he practiced. I have faith he will run very strong today.

Jeff Gordan needs to keep the car in one peace and he will win!!! JR is just not a all-around driver so I see a bad day again......

Uh, they DO test the road course cars, just not that the actual courses they run at (no testing allowed @ Sonoma or Watkins Glen).

There are lots of other road courses in the United States, and the most commonly used by NASCAR teams is VIR which is right on the border or VA and NC. (Great track BTW, I took a Skip Barber class there). I would seriously doubt that Jr. didn't take his "brand new" road course car and put it through the paces for many dozens of miles at VIR before packing it up and taking it to California!
