The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partners announced that they have shipped more than 30 million donated 8-oz. servings of filtered water, juice, sports drinks and other beverages to relief organizations including the American Red Cross, Department of Defense, Federal Emergency Management Agency and Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and foodservice partners such as Aramark for distribution to those who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. Coca-Cola bottlers and company plants in the Southeast are producing water and other beverages for donation to relief efforts across the Gulf Coast. The product donation is in addition to the $5 million in cash already pledged to organizations such as the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army and the Coca-Cola System Hurricane Katrina Employee Relief Fund. "Our people are the heart and soul of the Coca-Cola family, and I am inspired and encouraged by the compassion, determination and character displayed by our entire system in this time of need," said Donald R. Knauss, President and COO, Coca-Cola North America. "Our Company and our bottlers are working hard to meet the basic needs of the relief agencies in the form of financial assistance, donated beverages, blood and other necessities such as clothing, toiletries and school supplies." |
